1. What was it like doing a concert with Bikini Kill?
The thing I loved most about that show was everybody was so nice to each other. It felt like everyone wanted everyone else to succeed. Bikini Kill was like the magnet at the center of a new wave of creativity. I got to work their merch table which became scary when the show ended and every single girl in that room, hundreds of people, turned around pulling cash out of their pockets! It was our third show. First time I ever stood in front of a big audience. I was kind of stunned. Kathleen took tickets and frisked everybody at the door.
2. Did you get a chance to talk to Kathleen hanna at the show?
We got to talk after the show, when all the bands hung out on the curb in Montebello. It was about the loveliest experience a baby band could ask for. After that I could call her for advice, and I did, and her advice was always good.
3. are your old zines from the early 90s available for sale to your fans?
We have PDFs of several of them that people can ask for. When we get them online they'll be free for anyone to download.
4. whats your favorite song you've ever done and why?
The best thing about writing songs is the reaction people have to them. I can never predict it. In a way my songs are like a diary, so it's hard to pick just one.
5. Have you ever met Patty Schemel the drummer for Courtney Love band Hole?
She and her brother Larry Schemel recorded Tacoma Ballet with us, a mostly freestyle 2-CD album that hit #1 on the college radio charts with no promotion and very little publicity. She stayed with me in L.A. briefly, but after she hooked up with Courtney again we lost touch. Very nice person, awesome drummer, attentive and that Bonham tat on her arm is no idle threat.
